Waxing – Hair Removal

Veet and Nair Waxing Strips
Waxing yanks hair out from the roots. It’s an effective form of hair removal that lasts for weeks aas hair takes considerable time to grow back.
You could do it in a salon. I like Strip. Especially the bikini wax.
Actually, for bikini waxing, while brazilian bikini wax is considered the hottest, I prefer everything off.
Brazilian waxing leaves a little of the bush in the center. Looks tacky to me. I like clean. Bare. I absolutely loved it. Felt so clean. But my hubby totally hated it.
Basically, what happens in a bikini wax, brazilian bikini wax or everything off, is that the therapist would clean the area to be waxed.
Then on goes the warm wax and the strips of cotton. You’ll have to help to pull the skin tight while she yanks of the strip with all the hair attached to it.
Pain factor, less than childbirth. Ok for me. It’s just that sharp and fast pain and then it’s over.
I do my own waxing for body hair removal, everywhere else.
My preferred hair removal form for underarms is waxing, using waxing strips.
There are plenty in the market. I like Veet because it really grabs the hairs. It’s sticky and you have to remove the residue after that with the wipes provided in the waxing kit.
Nair pretty is a novel take on waxing strips. It’s got glitter in the wax and is cherry scented, to make using it, more fun.
Either way, with waxing strips
- Powder the area to be waxed with baby powder so that the wax can grip the hair better.
- Warm the strip between your hands. Then gently peel the strips apart.
- Smooth the strip, sticky side down, over the skin to be waxed
- Yank off the strip in the direction opposite the hair growth.
- Repeat until you’ve removed as much as possible.
- Remove traces of wax using a wipe that’s provided, or with a tissue soaked in oil.
An epilator is my preferred way of getting rid of unwanted leg hair, or off anywhere the skin is taut.
In both cases, the hair is yanked out from the roots, so hair takes weeks to grow back and regrowth is softer as in, you don’t get stubble.
The epilator is like an electric shaver. Plug it in and run it up and down taut skin that’s to be treated until all the unwanted hair’s pulled out. No talcum powder or any fuss necessary. No mess. No sticky residue to clean up.
To me, it’s a worthwhile investment. My epilator’s 10 years old and still going strong.
I’m used to it, but some people do find waxing or using the epilator painful.. hair being pulled out would hurt. If you’ve got a high pain threshold, either would work.
