Lip balm protects your lips and keeps your lips soft. In dry climates, lip balm helps prevent lips from cracking.

The skin on your lip is very thin and does not have oil glands. A good lip balm provides moisture to your lips.

Something as simple as vaseline can be used to moisturize your lips.. if you like petroleum jelly on your lips that is. Then when you eat, you’d inevitably end up eating some petroleum jelly with your food. Personally, I’d pass.

Practically every skin care and makeup brand has lip balm in some form or other.

Some lip balms just provide moisture, without color. I love those for sleeping in. Then there are the tinted lip balms that give lips that pretty color.

My current favourite lip balm?

Burt’s bees lip balm in rhubarb. That gives the coverage of a lipstick, yet feels so moist it is fabulous. The color is so natural and rosy. And it is made of natural ingredients. No petroleum jelly for me.

The finishing touch? The minty flavour my lips love.
