Oxidation happens during your body’s essential processes, like when your body breaks down food, or during exposure to pollution or radiation. During oxidation, electrons are transferred from one molecule to another and can produce free radical. These free radicals are like renegades let loose. They collide with other molecules, destabilizing them.

For example, free radicals from the sun’s UV rays damage the skin at cellular level, causing premature lines and wrinkles. Antioxidants neutralise these free radicals, protecting the skin, hence the antiaging benefits of food with antioxidants, or using skincare with antioxidants.

Antioxidants are substances that neutralize free radicals, by being oxidised themselves, stopping that chain reaction that would otherwise be damaging to the body. Antioxidants protect your health.

They say that a picture says more than a thousand words. This video explains antioxidants even more clearly.

Antioxidants are found in a number of food and vitamins.
Vitamin A is an antioxidant. As are vitamin C and vitamin E.
Lycopene is an antiocidant. Tomatoes are rich in these antioxidants.
Another well known source of antioxidants tea.

Here’s a list of just some of the foods with antioxidants. Do include these in your diet where ever possible.

Food with antioxidants

• Blueberries
• Green tea
• Tomatoes
• Mangoes
• Pecans
• Prunes

Basically, leafy vegetables and fruits and nuts in their fresh form are rich in antioxidants.

Snack on fresh fruit and nuts and sip on green tea to get your healthy daily dose of antioxidants, for younger, beautiful skin.

I asked her secret. Practice. Years of practice drawing that line with a liquid eye liner.

For years I have been lining my eyes with a pencil eyeliner for a very natural barely there look. A dark brown pencil drawn on the upper and lower lash line makes eye lashes look fuller and eyes larger and more defined without looking like you have make up on.

Lining with Khol or Eye Pencil

1. Hold your lower eyelid still with one hand
2. Draw on the lower lash line itself, over the inner side of the lower eye lid all the way to the outer edge of the eye.
3. Close the eye
4. Draw over the upper lash line, darkening more as you move towards the outer edge of the eye

I like the look. My only grouse is that it doesn’t last. It fades off in hours, needing touch ups.

My friend used liquid liner. I decided to take the plunge. It is a lot trickier to use and often, I ended up with smudgy panda eyes which I had to clean and try again.

That’s it. It takes lots of control and practice to get it right.

Extend the line a little past the outer edge, in a fine line, for that cats eye look.

To set the eye liner, you may go over it again in a matching eye shadow colour with a fine brush.

Get it right, this really lasts and looks great.

The cons?

It’s not easy to master and takes lots of practice to get it right.

Then I found this.

This is a great eyeliner for beginners. It’s like a pen.

Keep your hand steady, draw a line close to your upper lash line from inner corner to outer edge and you’re done.

It’s easy to use and gives the liquid eyeliner effect. It’s my favourite for now until I can master the regular liquid eyeliner.

The only drawback is that it is not as lasting as the liquid liner applied with the brush from mavala, which was what I used until now.
