Facial Cleansers For Acne Prone Skin
February 13, 2011 No CommentsOne thing I learnt was the importance of using the right cleanser in keeping skin blemish free.
My face used to be covered completely with pimples. I went to my friend’s doctor for acne treatment. She specialized in skin care and saw back-to-back patients for skincare problems. She would mix our cleansers, moistuizers and medication herself. Treating various skin conditions was her passion.
She taught me how to use cleansers to clear acne. Simply wash your face thrice a day with a wash off cleanser that contains triclosan.
You see, acne products work by zapping the bacteria and Triclosan does an excellent job at that.
This contains Triclosan.
Facial Cleanser / Acne Treatment #1

Acne Cleanser With Triclosan - Oxy Acne Wash
During the time of pimple outbreak, washing your face 3 times daily with this cleanser everyday should help get rid of the pimples.
Use it when you brush your teeth morning and night, and during lunch time.
For all skin types, this Neem Foaming Cleanser is a delight to use.
Facial Cleanser / Acne Treatment #2

Neem facial cleanser - a gentle form of natural acne treatment
Press the nozzle and out comes a rich foam which you use to cleanse your face.
It is very gentle and non drying. If you are looking for cleansers for dry acne prone skin, this would do the trick.
I bought it for myself. My preteen some came out to me and raved about it. He loved it… that little boy has been using my skincare too. :p
I’ve been hunting for antiaging skincare to protect my skin from the effects of aging. Everytime I tried something that’s antiaging, I get an acne breakout. It is embarassing to be ushered by the salesgirls to the teens skincare area, whenever they seem my pimply face after yet another dalliance with antiaging skincare products.
Ok, so what’s up for acne prone adult skin? I’m most definitely an older adult. Albiet one with oily, sensitive, acne prone skin. A skincare range that works for me and another friend, also in her forties, with oily skin is…. Avene. Not the antiaging range but the sensitive oily skin range.
This is my personal cleanser of choice. It works for my oily, acne prone, mature skin.
Facial Cleanser / Acne Treatment #3

Avene deep pore foaming cleanser for oily sensitive skin
1. Wet face
2. Squeeze a few cm from the tube, add water
3. Lather in hands, massage into skin. Rinse off.
Leaves skin clean and fresh without the tight dry feeling. Personally, I like it. Perfect for oily, sensitive yet mature skin.
Now if you want a really heavy duty cleanser that dries up the acne and really zaps the oil, go for this neutrogena cleanser that doubles up as a 3 minute masque:

2 ways to use this clay-based deep-cleansing acne treatment from neutrogena.
1. Massage into face and rinse off immediately as a daily cleanser
or
2. Apply as a greenish mask on your skin and leave it on for 3 minutes. Rinse off with lots of water.
Skin feels clean and tight after that.
Word of caution: this is a very drying acne treatment. May not be suitable for sensitive skin and is certainly not meant for dry skin types.
Ok, I don’t use this on its own.
One of the rules in skin care is never to sleep with any makeup. Ever.
That means, all traces of makeup should be removed before going to bed.
Before using any of my regular cleansers, I’d use a makeup remover to get rid of all traces of makeup on my face. Double cleanse my skin, so to speak.
I like these facial cleanser wipes for pure convenience:

cucumber based facial cleansing wipes
Just pull one cucumber cleanser wipe out of the packet and wipe off all the makeup. Press against eyelid to dissolve mascara and the rest of the eye makeup. Use another wipe if necessary.
Then cleanse face as per normal.
I love it. It leaves skin clean and fresh.
It takes the gunk off, though some types of waterproof mascara may need a cotton ball laden with an oily mascara remover to get rid off completely. This one works well enough for me as I usually skip mascara.
