Complex skin
February 14, 2012 No CommentsI went for a beauty consultation session today, complete with skin analysis. Guess what. I have complex skin.
Basically, the therapist used a device to check my skin. Magnified many times over, I could see the clogs on my skin and the dry lines forming over my eyes.
She also used the devices to check my skin’s moisture levels and oil levels.
Turns out that my skin is actually dry, as in seriously lacking in moisture.
I was surprised since I have been fighting acne since my teens. Even now, I get acne outbreaks.

hydrating moisturiser
- Apply an oil free wash off cleanser on wet face. Cleanse the skin, then rinse off the cleanser.
- Dab on toner all over the face avoiding eye area.
- Tap on eye cream lightly with ring finger around the eye.
- Apply a day cream lightly over entire face. This contains sunblock and oil control elements to keep the oil in check.
- Apply a sun block to protect skin from sun’s damaging rays.
At night, the steps are
- Apply an oil free wash off cleanser on wet face. Cleanse the skin, then rinse off the cleanser.
- Dab on toner all over the face avoiding eye area.
- Tap on eye cream lightly with ring finger around the eye.
- Apply a hydrating night lightly over entire face to replenish moisture.
Twice a week, I am to do the following mini facial:
- Apply an oil free wash off cleanser on wet face. Cleanse the skin, then rinse off the cleanser.
- Apply a gentle scrub and rub very lightly with finger tips over my face, to exfoliate. Focus more on the forehead, nose and chin where my skin is the oiliest. Rinse it off completely.
- Apply a hydrating mask and leave it on for 10 minutes to do its magic.
- Rinse it off.
- Dab on toner all over the face avoiding eye area.
- Tap on eye cream lightly with ring finger around the eye.
- Apply the day or night cream, depending on when I do this facial.
Another tip I gleaned from today’s session was to be very gentle with my face.
The consultant was horrified about the way I rubbed my skin when using the products.
- Apply with a light touch. Don’t rub the skin roughly as it will overstimulate the skin and make oily skin even oilier.
- Use gentle movements, moving hands outwards, upwards, with a very light touch.
Gulp.
Ok.
I’ll treat my skin better next time.
